Does your child have team spirit and a love for swimming?
Then they should join the
South Family YMCA
Thunderbolt Swim Team!!!
Our YMCA Swim Team provides a great opportunity for youth swimmers ages 5 to 17, develop individual swim skills and to work together as a team. Swimmers must be at Minnow lesson level.
The South Family YMCA Swim Team is an introductory competitive swimming program where boys and girls strengthen their stroke technique, endurance and get the opportunity to compete against other youth from YMCA’s all over the state of Minnesota.
This fall we are introducing our swimmers to USA Swimming in order to inspire and enable our members to achieve excellence in the sport of swimming and in life.
All coaches working with the South YMCA Swim Team have a competitive swimming background, and have had previous coaching experience. Coaches lead by example and stress the importance of team spirit, motivation, self esteem and confidence building.
The Thunderbolts are part of the MN YMCA Swim League that functions under the guidelines of YMCA National Swimming. The team also swims in the MN Swim USA league. Swim meets are run under USA Swimming rules with some addendums approved by the MN Swim League to accommodate age group swimming.
We offer three sessions throughout the year and practice 3 to 5 days a week, depending upon the swimmer's level. The swim team is divided among various skill levels to provide the right level of instruction and training. These levels include:
- Mini
- Novice
- Age Group
- Junior
- Senior
